Our inviting golf cart-friendly lake community offers beautiful views and homes for over of 1600 residents on and around beautiful Sylvan Lake Indiana.  Rome City attracts visitors year round to our many tourist attractions including our internationally famous Gene Stratton-Porter state historic site located on Sylvan lake.

Sylvan Lake Indiana is a SKI LAKE, an all-season lake with a wonderful public access and boat launch site, 16-miles of beautiful shoreline, great fishing, and our famous "Big Island" complete with scenic island nature trails, church services and island boat dock for public.

Community Roadside Cleanup Success!

Our 2021 Community Roadside Cleanup was Successful: 25 volunteers participated in cleanup: Kudos to Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church and RC Chamber and volunteers. 90 bags of trash and two full pick up loads of roadside trash were collected in Rome City. 

Body Cameras for Police Dept.

Rome City police officers will soon be equipped with body cameras, becoming the latest Noble County department to add the video technology. 

Town Improvements Include New "Solar" Signage

Our town just installed new sidewalks and a new street crossing sign on Front Street for the school kids and a new “solar” digital speed limit sign spearheaded by Marshal Hoffman that will indicate how fast you are traveling in the school zone.
