Our inviting golf cart-friendly lake community offers beautiful views and homes for over of 1600 residents on and around beautiful Sylvan Lake Indiana. Rome City attracts visitors year round to our many tourist attractions including our internationally famous Gene Stratton-Porter state historic site located on Sylvan lake.
Sylvan Lake Indiana is a SKI LAKE, an all-season lake with a wonderful public access and boat launch site, 16-miles of beautiful shoreline, great fishing, and our famous "Big Island" complete with scenic island nature trails, church services and island boat dock for public.

Help Catch a Thief, Vandals
SEE CRIME VIDEO. - Language/audio may be offensive
On November 20th & 21st Our Lady Mother of Mercy Center in Rome City was broken into and vandalized. A $1,000 dollar reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of these three individuals captured in surveillance video.

Town Improvements Include New "Solar" Signage
Our town just installed new sidewalks and a new street crossing sign on Front Street for the school kids and a new “solar” digital speed limit sign spearheaded by Marshal Hoffman that will indicate how fast you are traveling in the school zone.
